The construction of the future Kombo maternity ward is progressing at a steady pace, and several important milestones have been reached over the past few weeks.
Ceilings have now been installed, as well as windows. Designed to protect the buildings from direct sunlight, they help maintain a more comfortable indoor temperature and keep the rooms cool despite the heat.
Finishing work is also moving forward, with interior painting underway and tiles being laid. The bathroom has also been fully fitted out, bringing the facility gradually closer to commissioning.
These concrete developments reflect the commitment of all those involved in this essential project, which aims to improve access to maternal and child healthcare in the region.
In addition, thanks to the work of Kihomi Safari, a nurse has been recruited to strengthen the medical team in Kombo starting in November. Flora will join the maternity ward for a three-month period. She will work alongside the doctor, providing support for the facility’s activities and contributing to strengthening the skills of the on-site teams. This collaboration represents a valuable opportunity for exchange and support, benefiting both healthcare staff and patients.
We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the construction work and on Flora’s upcoming arrival at the maternity ward.
Thank you all for your support ❤️
